Consult + prototyping 08/05

Feedback from consult:

  • Do more user test and integrate more project-based elements -> more user test next week
  • Making the pluggs: Lasercutting or make it with al mold
  • For DIY: no technical drawings, but instructable
  • Hard Shell: PMMA not suited because it is too brittle -> We can use ABS
Prototyping:
  1. Lasercutting
We used the lasercutter to make the form for the hard shell out of ABS 3mm. For the modules we used foamboard with a thickness of 5mm. The project modules where made from cardboard with a thickness of 1,5 mm. Because the limitations of the with of the files that could be lasercutted, we had to devide the modules in different parts and we will secure them back together. There was some text on the Project modules, but this increased the lasercut time with an hour for every module, that is why we decided not erase the text and write them by hand.

      2. Forming hard shell for backpack

The shell, who was lasercutted out of an ABS sheet before, was bended into the wished form using a hot air blower. The angle at which the shell was to be folded was determined from the CAD model.
